Nevada - Las Vegas

Nevada, especially Las Vegas, is well known by two things: quick weddings and gambling. Marriage and divorce are quick and easy. The famous wedding chapels are located mostly on the northern end of the Strip, they are rather tacky.

For gamblers, nearly all the casinos (and certainly all the large ones) have some sort of rewards program. If you are going to Las Vegas with an intention of doing some gambling, make sure you take out the free membership to your hotel's casino stayed at the Flamingo which is part of the Harrah's group; their rewards program is called Total Rewards. On sign-up, you are presented with two membership cards which have a magnetic strip on the back. When you play the slots, put your rewards card in the slot and it will log your play and your rewards will start building up.

Fremont Street is where Las Vegas oldest casinos are. The street is indoors and has a roof where light shows are done everyday, on the hour, for free. They promote themselves of having "the biggest big screen on the planet". The light shows are free, about 5-6 minutes long, with good sound and resolution.

For sure in Vegas, stay away from any streets that are numbered or lettered. (i.e. 1st street, 2nd street, A street, B street, etc....). Numbered and lettered streets marks, obviously, the oldest part of town and is usually, therefore, the bad part.
